Art Night - The North Carry On Up

24 August 2024

Free and open to all
Performance 2pm – 6pm
Afterparty from 7pm at the Arctic Bar

To mark the (re)launch of our organisation, as it reshapes and takes root in the city of Dundee, we have the pleasure of presenting a newly commissioned work by Dundee-based artist Inefficient Solutions. This public, participatory project will be delivered – or rather, carried – across Dundee with the support of our local community of artists and artist-led organisations on Saturday the 24th of August.

The performance will take place from 2pm and 6pm, at locations between between the City Quay and Dundee Law.

‘The North Carry On Up’ will be followed by an afterparty at The Arctic Bar – with music, dancing, and a guest appearance from artist, DJ, and karaoke aficionado David McLeish.

Poster design by Lauren Bloor.

‘Inefficient Solutions’ is the performative identity of Dundonian artist Euan Taylor. In his work he commits to the the guise of a sub-contractor operating out of Dundee, never deviating from the company’s core values and aims: creating and solving problems; being on the scrounge; building building sites, and undertaking futile endeavours.

A graduate of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, Taylor has participated in exhibitions, workshops and residencies in Dundee, wider Scotland, and internationally. His 2023 Art Night commission, ‘The Hi-Visit’ took place at Dundee’s legendary artist-run exhibition and project space Generator Projects.

Art Night Dundee is a legacy project of Art Night, led by the team who delivered the festival’s 2023 iteration in Dundee.
